Participating high school students start classes at Oglethorpe University.
The Sandwich Project
In honor of MLK Day 2024, MIS students will be making sandwich for The Sandwich Project (TSP). TSP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose volunteers assemble and donate fresh, homemade sandwiches each week for immediate consumption to meet the food scarcity needs in Metro Atlanta.

MLK School Supply Drive
From January 8th to January 19th, in honor of MLK and in collaboration with Hosea Helps, MIS is collecting school supplies for those in need. The list consists of:
1. Book Bags

3. Composition Notebooks
4. Spiral Notebooks
5. Glue Sticks
6. Two-Pocket Folders
High School Info Session
Join us for 1.5 hour long peek into high school at MIS. Here you will find out what a day in the life of a high school student looks like, along with academics, extra-curriculars, college prep, social life, and more! This session is for 8th grade students and all interested parents.
High School Information Session & Student Panel
Join us for a peek into high school at MIS! Learn more about the high school day, academics, extracurriculars, college prep, social life and more! Dr. Rezaie and Ms. Streitel will be joined by a student panel made up of both current high school students, as well as alumni. We will be sharing an exciting new opportunity for rising 8th graders, as well as talk about the upcoming 8th grade shadow days in January! This session is for any interested parents (with students in any grade level), as well as 8th grade students who would like to attend. Current and prospective families are all welcome! Please RSVP so we can be sure to have enough refreshments!
Winter Arts Festival
Please join us on Saturday, December 9th from 10am to 1pm for the Winter Arts Festival. Students have been working hard to prepare their pieces of art to be showcased during this fun-filled event.

Our Georgia Student Finance Representative will be presenting on the new FAFSA (coming out in December), as well as state-specific financial aid including HOPE. You don't want to miss this!

Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a day that encourages people to give back in whatever ways they can. Please consider giving to the MIS Annual Fund according to your family’s abilities. Donations start at $10. No school Monday, Nov. 20-Friday, Nov. 24 for Thanksgiving. Enjoy the holiday!
Student Government Elections (K-8)
Elections will be held Tuesday, November 7.
In order to participate, parent permission forms are due October 26th. Digital campaign posters are due October 30th, and video submissions are due November 1st. Completed applications are to be send to Mr. Tone at tlane@misatl.org.
Being involved in student organizations is awesome experience for kids! It promotes unity and belonging in the community, students are able to advocate for their peers, support leadership development, and participate and learn about decision making processes.
