Winter Arts Festival is almost here!
Save the Date for the annual Winter Arts Festival at MIS on Dec. 13th from 10am to 1pm!
We are in need of volunteers at the Winter Arts Festival to help make this a successful event.

FOOD DRIVE UPDATE
Thank you to all who have contributed to the food drive organized by our High School Student Council in support of Toco Hills Community Alliance.
We have a station set up by the front desk for students and families to drop off items whenever they can.
The Challenge:
Last year, we collected about 650 items. This year, we want to aim even higher: if the whole school collects over 1,000 items between now and December 17, we will have a school-wide pizza party!! Check out our latest count!

The Knight School Chess Team is your school's official chess team and chess party. Our unique and unprecedented educational philosophy, “the chess party,” is the perfect way to transform a complete beginner into a devastating chess machine.

In this kid-centered classroom environment, we teach our kids every cool trick, strategy, opening, and tactic in chessdom and our kids soon learn to love and master chess and to masterfully control their classrooms, sports fields, and home lives as well!
In addition to the weekly meetings, enrollment includes a chess set with replacement pieces for life, t-shirt, colorful bracelets earned throughout the year which signify mastery of different strategies and tactics, access to our online tournaments and events, and our end-of-semester tournaparties! Get ready for MIS Spirit Day on Wednesday, December 10th!
Leonard the Lynx is ready to paint the town TEAL on December 10th. Students are encouraged to come to school decked out in their spirit gear and MIS shirts and ready to join in the fun!
Participate in our Garage Sale hosted by the Middle School Service Club!
As you may know, Jamaica is in need of funds due to the recent Hurricane Melissa. Participating in the Garage sale will help raise money for a Jamaican Hurricane Relief Fund.
The Garage Sale will be taking place on Monday, December 15th, from 12 to 1pm. If you would like to participate in the garage sale, please sign up with the following form. Hurry--there are only 11 spots remaining!
There is a $15 fee for the table (which will be going towards the Jamaican Hurricane Relief Fund). The money you make is yours to keep!
Calling All Pet Owners!
The Elementary Student Government is hosting a “People’s Choice Pet Contest” to raise money for the LifeLine Animal Project of DeKalb County!
How to Enter:
Submit a photo of your pet for a $5 donation per pet. All proceeds will go directly to the LifeLine Animal Project of DeKalb County.
Acceptable entries include mammals (excluding humans), birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, crustaceans, insects, and arachnids.
Important Dates:
Entry Deadline: December 5 at 12:00 p.m.
MIS Student Voting: December 12 (during school)
Second Chance to Win: Winter Arts Festival on December 13 (Petco Gift Card prize!)
Prizes Available: On or after December 15 at Midtown International School

Middle & High School
Calling all 8th - 11th grade students and parents!
We invite you to join us for an upcoming Outplacement Application Workshop with High School Counselor Abby Poirier, designed to support rising and current high school students and their families as they navigate the independent high school application process. During this session, we’ll review timelines, application components, and key strategies for presenting your student’s strengths with confidence.
We are offering two scheduling options:
Thursday, December 11th 7-8 p.m. (virtual)
Wednesday, December 17th 8:45-9:45 a.m. (in-person)
Please register here. Students and families are encouraged to attend together, though students may attend on their own if needed.
Zoom links for the virtual session will be sent to those registered by December 10th.
This workshop is open to all current eighth grade and high school students and their parents/guardians and will include time for questions. We hope you’ll join us.

Parent Education
Limitless Learning parent education series is on pause for November, but will be back in December.
Our next session will be on Wednesday, December 10th at 9:00 a.m. We encourage in-person attendance, but a Zoom link will be provided for those that cannot join in person. Please send an email to Shetal Shah, sshah@misatl.org, if you’d like to receive a Zoom link.
