MIS ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ARE...
Problem-solvers.
There is no problem that is too big for even our youngest students to solve. Through the problem-based learning model of instruction, teachers at MIS provide students with real world learning opportunities that require complex thinking, collaboration, and various modes of communication in order to come up with a solution. This type of experiential learning takes students far beyond rote skills and worksheets, and into a world where they get to be the engineers, artists, biologists, architects, and authors in charge of bringing change to their communities. |

Innovators.
Gifted learners thrive on learning opportunities that allow them to explore their curiosities and uncover their passions. We meet these needs by providing our students with choices that allow them to create their ideal learning environment and examine abstractions in unique ways. Whether they are inventing a new Mars rover, coding their own video game, or developing a draft of a modern day Bill of Rights, our students' minds are always at work.

Explorers.
At MIS, we make the world our classroom through meaningful travel experiences. Beginning in 3rd grade, students get the opportunity to take a multi-day trip to Savannah and Tybee Island. While there, they see Georgia history come to life, and also participate in a marine science course at a local 4H Center. In 4th grade, students take their first MIS plane trip to a destination within the United States. This year's destination - Washington, DC! White House, here we come!
