Dr. Sidney Baker, TrusteeDr. Sidney Baker has worked as a career-educator for more than 37 years beginning as an elementary teacher in Birmingham, Alabama, and then holding various teaching and leadership roles in Georgia with Marietta City Schools, Cobb County Schools, and Atlanta Public Schools, including that of elementary principal for 19 years. His last assignment prior to retiring from public education was serving as Associate Superintendent of Elementary Schools in the Atlanta Public Schools.
In 2010, Dr. Baker received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Great Books Foundation for his school’s implementation of the Junior Great Books Program. His belief in the shared inquiry approach as well as the alignment with international education allows him to present workshops on how Junior Great Books can enhance an elementary school’s reading program. Born in the small town of Eufaula, Alabama, Dr. Baker has realized the importance of encouraging students as well as adults to consider not only their local environments but international exposure as well. |
Ande Noktes, FounderAnde is a social entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in founding and leading social enterprises. She founded her third school, Midtown International School, in 2012, and served as Head of School until 2020. In the years since transitioning to trustee, she has consulted and coached leaders, entrepreneurs, organizations, and start-up teams on the myriad of exciting challenges that come with new endeavors.
Ande has a BA in Liberal Arts from Colorado State University and an MA in Philosophy from Assumption University in Bangkok. Ande also has an MBA from Emory University and has completed doctoral work in education with dissertation research focusing on executive function development in gifted learners. She is currently completing a doctoral degree in Law and Public Policy from Northeastern University, focusing her research on women entrepreneurs’ access to capital. |
